Retempio Sanctuary

Dating from 1835, the Retempio Sanctuary features a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of the Visitation and Saint Roch. Its interior houses a gilded wooden Madonna and two colorful statues of Saints Andrew and Bartholomew. Despite its name suggesting a Christ dedication, ‘Retempio’ comes from the nearby Tempioz pasture. Each year on July 2, pilgrims make their way here, rewarded with breathtaking views of Monte Rosa and the Matterhorn.
