Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta.
At the roundabout, turn right towards the town centre.
After a few hundred metres, on the right, opposite the Chapel of San Rocco, you will find the Avis square.
Trail description
From the small square, continue for just over 50 metres towards the centre of Pont-Saint-Martin. Cross the road and climb the steep footpath that leads to the upper street.
Follow the tarmac road to the junction, then descend towards the town centre. Just past the covered car park on the left, the footpath to Perloz begins.
This wide path passes close to the beautiful Fontaney Church and the old cemetery, with Baraing Castle clearly visible on the right. The path crosses a road and from this point follows the route of the Tor des Géants.
Pass beneath the regional road, then cross the vineyard road and continue for around 100 metres before leaving the main path to take the trail that winds through the vineyards.
After a flat section, the trail climbs steeply with some stone steps until it meets the road coming from Perloz. Follow this road gently to the right until you reach the path leading to the sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, which is accessed by a pleasant stretch of footpath.
After visiting the sanctuary, return to the vicinity of the bell tower and follow the Alta Via No.1. This path climbs briefly before crossing to reach the plateau of Places.
Leave the trail and continue past the houses to arrive at a vantage point overlooking the main valley, offering sweeping views of the entrance to the Aosta Valley and Pont-Saint-Martin far below.
Return to the rural road and follow it for a short distance before turning left onto the Alta Via path. Initially it runs diagonally, then descends steeply to reach the houses of Bondon.
Follow the tarmac road downhill, continuing along Alta Via No.1 to the hamlet of Rovarey. Turn left here and follow the local road to reach the district of Ronc de Vaca.
Continue along the internal road until you reach the main road. Follow the pavement along the main road to the roundabout, and just beyond it, return to the car park where your vehicle is parked.
