( 1.440 m)
Hiking
Start from Champorcher
April - May - June - July - August - September

Brief description

A short, mostly flat walk along the Ayasse stream. The route allows you to admire the beautiful pools of the stream, particularly the one known as the "Golli de Pourtsèt," located at the lowest point of the walk.
In Chardonney, it’s worth visiting Casa Thomas, home of the Lou Dzeut cooperative, which works with Champorcher hemp cloth. Visitors can see the looms in action, try weaving on small tabletop looms, and purchase items in the shop. It is also possible to see the museum and the restored mill.

Start point description

From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta. At the roundabout, continue left, still heading for Aosta.
Pass through Donnas and reach Bard; after the village, at the roundabout, turn left towards Champorcher. Pass through Hône and enter the Champorcher Valley. Continue past Pontboset and proceed towards Champorcher.
At the end of the village, on the left, there is a car park where you can leave your vehicle.
From the Verrès tollbooth, turn right towards Turin, pass Arnad, and at the roundabout, turn right towards Champorcher.

Trail description

From the car park at Château, follow the pavement towards Chardonney. At the first junction, turn left and follow the road leading to the bridge over the stream. Cross the bridge (to the left is a lovely pool in the stream), then turn left and follow the lane to a small clearing where you descend to the left along the Alta Via No. 2 route.
You will reach a beautiful green hollow (to the right, a characteristic building with a wall made of river stones laid in a herringbone pattern). Cross it and continue descending for a short stretch, then, when the descent becomes steeper, leave the “Orridi” path that goes down and cross to the right for about 100 metres to reach a viewpoint from which the large pool in the stream, called “Goilli di Pourtsèt”, can be seen below.
Return the same way to the bridge over the stream and continue along it to reach the start of the ski lifts. Cross the bridge and follow the road gently uphill to reach the Lou Dzeut cooperative, where high-quality hemp fabrics are produced. Turn sharply right (to the right, the beautiful Thomas house and the old mill) to enter the village. On the right, you will see the bakery, and just beyond it a fountain.
Descend the steps to reach the large car park and cross it. Continue for a short distance along the road, then enter the picnic area. Cross it and follow the stream bank until you reach the tarmac road, cross it, and follow the pavement back to the car park.
