Description
The building was constructed in 1888 by German engineers for the noble Beck Peccoz family, who between 1889 and 1896 hosted numerous members of the royal family. Among them, the most fond of Gressoney was undoubtedly Queen Margherita of Italy.
In 1968, the municipality of Gressoney-Saint-Jean purchased the complex and converted it into the town hall.
At the northeast corner of the villa stands a stone dome that once served as an icehouse. The entire complex is surrounded by a 19,000 m² park, largely composed of larch and fir trees.
