Description
The castle was built between 1899 and 1904 at the express wish of Queen Margherita of Savoy, who spent her summers here until 1925.
The castle is organized over three floors: the ground floor houses the day rooms, the first floor (piano nobile) contains the royal apartments, and the second floor (not open to visitors) was reserved for courtiers.
The beautiful interior decorations, with references to the Art Nouveau (Liberty) style, pay tribute to the Queen, whose flowers and initials appear throughout. The coffered ceilings, wood paneling, and furnishings are inspired by medieval design.
At the foot of the castle, a rock garden features a variety of botanical species typical of alpine flora.
