Description
The central theme of the exhibition is the magnificent bridge built by the Romans in the 1st century BC, whose majestic arch is the widest among those from the same period still existing in Europe.
Inside the museum, visitors can find information to satisfy any curiosity about the ‘Devil’s Bridge’: the materials used and the construction techniques, the legends in which the bridge features, the 19th-century restoration, and the danger it narrowly escaped during the Allied bombing in August 1944.
The Roman bridge also serves as the starting point for a comprehensive 360° exploration of the municipality of Pont-Saint-Martin: a short film, projected in the same room, acts as an introductory guide.
The museum is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Admission is free.
