Parish Church of Santissima Trinità

Culture - Churches and Sanctuaries
Gressoney-La-Trinité

Description

Since its founding in 1702, the church has been dedicated to the Holy Trinity, but its patron saint is Saint Francis Xavier, as the title of the Three Divine Persons could not be assigned.
Notable features include the main altar, in Baroque style with some Renaissance influences, the wheel-shaped tabernacle from 1704, and an ornamental silver-gilt copper lamp dating back to 1695.
The bell tower, built at the same time as the church, rises to about 30 meters.
Adjacent to the church, the cemetery is remarkable for the age and quality of its handcrafted stone tombstones, created by local sculptors and stonemasons.
