Parish Church of San Grato

Culture - Churches and Sanctuaries
Pontboset

Description

Originally built between 1622 and 1624, just before the parish was founded in 1625, the church was later reconstructed in 1843–44 under the guidance of architect Pacifique Dallou from Donnas. The interior walls were adorned with frescoes in 1910 by the artists Stornone, Sardi, and Carretti. The 19th-century altar contains statues crafted in 1706 by the Biellese master Serra, while the triumphal crucifix dates to 1625. Visitors are greeted in the square by a charming stone fountain, created in 1830 by the skilled stonemasons Peraldo of Biella.
