Description
Opened in 2001 and inaugurated in its new premises on April 25, 2008, the Documentation Center and Museum of the Resistance ‘Brigata Lys’ is dedicated to preserving and presenting to the public the history of the III Brigata Lys, which in 1943 carried out the first act of resistance in the Lower Lys Valley.
The museum houses various relics, documents received through donations, and educational projects created by local school students. These are displayed in a historic building in the town center, originally destroyed by a devastating fire on June 30, 1944, during a Nazi-fascist reprisal. The building was later acquired by the III Brigata and donated to the Municipality of Perloz, with the specific aim of preserving the memory of the tragic events of the war.
Uniforms, helmets, clothing, flags, maps, weapons, and various artifacts are carefully displayed alongside valuable documentary, photographic, and iconographic material, enhanced through multimedia technologies and engaging interpretive methods. The museum’s Documentation Center contains publications, videos, CDs, cassette tapes, manuscripts, and archival documents.
The museum is normally open on Sundays in July and August from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM; visitors are advised to confirm opening hours in advance.
