Description
Hemp, once widely grown near waterways in the Aosta Valley and across the Alps, was transformed—through harvesting, retting, stripping, combing, and spinning—into a strong, durable yarn. This yarn was then woven into linens and clothing used in everyday life and work.
Skilled embroiderers and seamstresses still draw inspiration from traditional family trousseaus, whose practicality, sturdiness, and simple elegance continue to impress visitors today.
During your visit, you can watch the looms in action, try weaving on tabletop looms, and explore the shop offering handmade woven products.
