Brief description
This loop follows, uphill, a little-known trail that leads to the wide final basin of Passo Zube.
The pass overlooks the Otro Valley, which descends toward Alagna Valsesia.
During the summer, around midday, clouds often arrive from the Valsesia side.
To reach the starting point, it is necessary to use the first section of the Gabiet cable car.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right toward Torino. At the second roundabout, turn left toward Gressoney.
Drive for a few hundred meters, then turn right onto the road following the Lys Valley, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, Issime, Gaby, and Gressoney-Saint-Jean until reaching the center of Gressoney-La-Trinité.
Without entering the town, turn right toward Staffal and follow the road to its end, where you will find two large paid car parks.
Trail description
From the lift station, ascend to the Adler's Nest refreshment point, then cross to the right to reach Rifugio Gabiet.
From the refuge, continue uphill toward the lake, keeping it on your left while ascending along the contour. Cross to the right to navigate a rocky section, then climb to the left to reach the wide final basin.
Here, you will meet the trail that will be used for the descent; follow it to the right until you reach the broad pass overlooking the Valsesia. After a well-deserved break, retrace the ascent trail to the junction, then continue straight into the Col d'Olen valley.
Descend a steep little valley leading to the lower basin. At this point, the trail is less visible; you can alternatively cross and reach the ski slope, descending along its side until you reconnect with the trail further down.
Following the trail to the left, passing under the steep rocky slope, you will reach a small lake and, shortly after, the lift station. Before reaching the small lake, it is also possible to stay on the right side of the valley to meet the other trail by the lake.
