The lower and middle Lys Valley
Brief description
This route is very challenging and follows the course of the famous Electric Trail, which took place years ago in the spring.
The trail is particularly demanding due to its steep and technical ascents and descents, especially when the terrain is wet. It is possible to split the route in two, descending from the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-La-Garde to Pont-Saint-Martin.
If considered as a training itinerary, the times are calculated assuming a speed of one and a half times normal pace (approximately 450 meters in altitude gain per hour).

Trail description
Cross the public gardens completely until reaching the bridge over the Lys stream. Cross the main road to climb Via Roma, pass the Roman bridge, and at the hairpin turn, turn sharply left to ascend the large mule track. Follow it, crossing the road twice, until reaching the hamlet of Ivery, where the paved road is located.
Follow the road through the houses, then at the second curve leave it to climb the beautiful panoramic mule track to Holay pond, keeping to the left to ascend the trail that leads to the road below the hydroelectric power plant’s intake basin. From here, continue along the paved road for about two kilometres, then take the level road that leads to the houses of Suc.
From Suc, descend along the Cammino Balteo. After a short uphill section, the trail descends to the main village of Lillianes. Cross the beautiful bridge, and from the church continue left along the Cammino Balteo, first on the paved road, then along the mule track almost to Nantay, where you go up right to Chemp.
From Chemp, follow a short section on the road, then return to the mule track to reach Varfey. Cross left to arrive at the houses of Badery. Descend steeply (if the trail is overgrown, it is safer to follow the paved road), cross the bridge, and climb toward the Glacières mill, then follow the ru de Marine and descend to the homonymous hamlet.
Upon reaching Chamioux, descend along the road to the first hairpin turn, where you take the mule track leading to Nantay, then climb the opposite valley slope via the paved road. Upon reaching the regional road, follow it briefly downhill, then turn right along Alta Via No. 1 to reach the church of Tour d’Hérèraz.
The mule track descends to cross the characteristic Ponte Moretta, then ascends to the main village of Perloz. Cross the village and continue along Alta Via No. 1 to Chanavisa, then descend to the Sanctuary of Notre-Dame-de-La-Garde and continue to Places. Climb right to Jas, then descend to Pera Gema, Pioule, Bondon, and Artada.
Climb a short section along the asphalt road, then ascend to Albard di Donnas, first along the rural road, then via the trail to Fobe. Continue until reaching the mule track that descends to Albard di Bard and Bard. Enter the village, then climb the very steep trail back to Albard di Donnas. Follow a short stretch on the asphalt road, then climb to Truc Chaveran.
On the descent, there is a protected rock slab to descend carefully, then reach the Roman road. Turn left, entering the village and cross it completely, then climb to the Rovarey hamlet. After a short descent, take the vineyard road, follow it to the end, then descend along the mule track, pass Baraing Castle, and along Via Roma and Baraing, cross the Lys stream to return to the car.
