Six Bridges trail
Brief description
A fantastic route that can be completed in a few hours, allowing us to visit the six bridges of Pontboset, all of different types, but particularly interesting.
It is worth admiring the erosion caused by the torrents on the rocks in this area: large pools of water, smooth rocks, and slides carved into the stone.
The environment crossed, including the Ratus gorge, which is partly climbed, is particularly wild.
The route is clearly waymarked.
During the excursion, you pass through the beautiful village of Pontboset, where many architectural details of the buildings can be admired.
After the excursion, it is possible to have lunch at one of the village restaurants.
Except after snowfalls at lower altitudes, the route is accessible all year round.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta. At the roundabout, continue to the left, still in the direction of Aosta.
Continue past Donnas and reach Bard. After passing through the village, at the roundabout, turn left towards Champorcher.
Pass through the village of Hône and enter the Champorcher Valley. Continue almost up to Pontboset, where the road to Biel begins on the right. Follow it for a few dozen metres, then turn left into the access leading to the car park where the car is left.
From the Verrès toll booth, turn right towards Turin, pass Arnad until the roundabout, then turn right in the direction of Champorcher.
Trail description
From the car park, descend to cross the main road and enter the village, passing through it while paying attention to the details of the various buildings until reaching the end.
Ascend along the asphalt road to the hairpin bend, then follow the path leading to the bridge. Cross it and, just after, descend to the left along the stream, crossing it on a small stone bridge.
Return along the asphalt road for a short distance, then take the branch that descends to reach the stream where the main bridge is clearly visible. Without crossing it, continue along the high path above the Ayasse stream, then descend slightly to cross a characteristic “swaying” bridge. In this area, the stream forms beautiful crystal-clear pools.
Continue to the left to ascend to a small car park and pass through the houses of Frontiére. The trail descends alongside the Ayasse stream for a stretch, then rises slightly to reach the bridge over the Ratus gorge. Cross the bridge, admiring the deep chasm.
Return to the start of the bridge and take the steep trail that climbs through the forest. Reach a fork (the path to the right will be followed later) and turn left.
The path climbs within the gorge, with some small sections equipped with a safety rope and protected by wooden railings, gradually approaching the stream and reaching a beautiful pool with a small waterfall.
Return along the same route to the fork, continue straight on a level path until reaching the asphalt road leading to the village of Crest. Follow it downhill until reaching the road descending to Frontiére, turn left for a short distance, then ascend to cross the Manda stream on a beautiful arched bridge. Cross it and descend slightly to the asphalt road.
After a short distance, turn right to cross the most beautiful bridge of the entire route. After admiring the large pool of the Ayasse stream from the bridge, ascend through the houses to reach the centre of the village. Turn right and follow the same route as at the start to return to the car park.
