Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right toward Torino. At the second roundabout, turn left toward Gressoney.
After a few hundred meters, take a right onto the road of the Lys Valley, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, Issime, Gaby, and Gressoney-Saint-Jean, until reaching the downtown of Gressoney-La-Trinité.
At the roundabout, continue straight into the town. After a few hundred meters, the large car park will be on the left.
Trail description
From the car park, follow the pedestrian road towards Monte Rosa until reaching a left-hand trail junction that leads to Testa Grigia.
Follow it briefly, then take the flat trail on the right that brings you just below the characteristic Alpe Bino, built under a large rock. A short steep section of a few minutes leads directly to the rock. The construction under the boulder reduced the need for walls and provided avalanche protection.
Descend slightly to reach the rural road along the Lys, which you follow until the junction leading to Sant’Anna. The trail goes up along a hillside until it joins the path coming from Biel.
Now the ascent becomes steeper, leading to the large plateaus above Sant’Anna, offering breathtaking views of Monte Rosa, as if you could touch it. After a well-deserved break by the chapel and admiring the local artworks, continue on a flat section past the cable car, reaching the dirt road that leads to Col della Bettaforca.
Follow the descending road to Staffal (stop briefly to the left to see the Madonna della Neve chapel). Cross the entire square almost to the end, then take the right-hand path passing near the cable car, which becomes a beautiful trail leading to Anderbatt.
From here, continue a short distance, then after the waterfall, descend left to the stunning village of Biel. Descend a steep section, cross the stream, and reach the beautifully restored village of Selsteg.
The trail then continues downhill, initially farther from the stream and, in the final section, following it directly until returning to your car.
