Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin. At the second roundabout, take the left turn towards Gressoney.
After a few hundred metres, turn right onto the Valle del Lys road and follow it to Lillianes.
Just before the narrow section of the village, turn right onto the ascending road. After two steep hairpins, continue straight, cross the stream, pass under the village, and shortly afterwards, the car park is on the right.
Trail description
From the car park, follow the road downhill for about ten metres, then take the lane to the right between the houses. Keeping to the right, the lane climbs onto a beautiful mule track.
After an initial open section, the path enters a terraced chestnut area until it reaches the vehicle road. Follow the mule track to the left, then rejoin the road, continue past a hairpin bend, and shortly afterwards, return to the mule track on the right. Reaching the asphalt road again, follow it to the first houses of the village, passing on the right to reach the charming chapel.
Cross the road and take the stepped mule track, with some sections enclosed by large stone walls, leading to the village of Bonnes Heures.
The trail enters the small valley, running alongside an old irrigation channel (ru) until reaching the stream, which is crossed via a small wooden bridge. The path climbs steeply at first, then traverses to the left and, on a gentle downhill, reaches the Alta Via No. 1 route. Follow it to the right, and soon you reach the beautiful Ponte del Revers, where several benches offer a perfect spot for a rest stop.
From here, ascend slightly along the Alta Via No. 1 until reaching the vehicle road, which is followed downhill until a left-hand junction leading to the Etoile du Berger refreshment hut.
Continue along the Cammino Balteo and Alta Via No. 1 to reach the chapel of Santa Margherita. From the chapel, the mule track descends the ridge with steep hairpins, passing several villages until reaching the houses of Toux and Saley, where the Alta Via No. 1 route is left at the hairpin.
Follow the Cammino Balteo to the houses of Barbia. Just below, take the left-hand mule track, which leads to the asphalt road just before the bridge. Following the same road taken by car in the morning, you quickly return to the car park.
