Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left following the signs for Gressoney.
The road climbs for a few hundred meters before turning right into the Lys Valley road, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, and Issime.
Continue until you reach the main village of Gaby. Drive through the village completely, then continue a short distance further until, on the left near a small cluster of houses, a side road leads to a small car park.
Trail description
From the car park, follow the regional road in the direction of Gressoney-Saint-Jean. Pass the houses, and on the right you will see a passage through the wall that allows you to start climbing.
The path continues with a few switchbacks before turning right and ascending through an area with several terraced slopes, once created for farming. You then reach the ruins of Alpe Balma and continue to the right, heading towards the imposing rock wall.
Cross a scree slope and keep climbing along the very steep trail, then traverse once more to the right. A short rocky slab equipped with a few iron steps allows you to pass and reach the base of the Pentimento Side.
The return is made along the same route.
