Brief description
A beautiful and varied route that crosses a large scree field.
In the final section, the trail can be difficult to follow, and the last stretch, being over easy rocky terrain, requires caution, especially on the descent.
Along the way, you can see several pines that have managed to grow in such rocky terrain.
From the summit, enjoy a beautiful panorama of the Aosta Valley, with a steep view down to the Large Frudière Lake.
It is possible to shorten the route by using the Weissmatten chairlift.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left following the signs for Gressoney.
The road climbs for a few hundred meters before turning right into the Lys Valley, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, Issime, and Gaby.
Continue until you reach Valdobbia, where you turn left toward Castel Savoia.
Pass the car park and continue along the road that climbs the steep wooded slope almost to the end, where at a left-hand hairpin turn you can park in the widened area.
Trail description
Follow the trail that starts just outside the hairpin turn, passing just below two beautiful wooden chalets. Reach the rural road and follow it to the right for a short stretch, then turn left onto the steeply ascending trail.
Follow this trail through the larch forest until you reach the ski slope and, shortly after, the top station of the Weissmatten chairlift.
Pass the artificial lake on the left and, at the end, take the trail on the left that crosses the area.
The trail traverses along the slope, then crosses a scree field and begins ascending a ridge.
Continue ascending steeply until, after a path, instead of descending toward the col leading to the Frudière Lakes, turn right and climb steeply along a path. Reach a flatter area, then continue directly, over rocky sections, to the summit of Monte Taf.
The return is made along the same route.
