Start point description

From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta.
At the roundabout, keep left, continuing in the direction of Aosta.
Follow the long straight road almost to its end, passing through two traffic lights, until you find on your left the road descending towards Vert.
Pass under the railway, cross the Dora Baltea River, and continue to a small roundabout where you turn left.
Continue along the road, then at the junction turn left again. At the end of the long straight stretch, turn right towards the hamlet of Montey (the church is clearly visible).
The road climbs the mountain slope with steep switchbacks. At one of these, around 900 meters in altitude, turn right and descend gently to reach the houses of Donnes. Just before or just after the village, look for a widening in the road where you can park your car.

Trail description

From the car park, follow the rural road which, after an initial climb, descends to the Fer di Bonze stream.
Just beyond, a beautiful mule track begins, leading above the houses of Mont Meillant. The path then enters the valley, passing through the hamlet of Mognissolaz before reaching Le Bochet.
Just after, on the left, a trail branches off towards Lake Liet. The route crosses the slope amid larches, rhododendrons, and blueberries, arriving first at the houses of Liet and then at the lake itself.
After crossing the lake’s outflow, the trail climbs steeply among rocky debris until it reaches a cliff (this section is sometimes overgrown). Traversing left across rock slabs equipped with iron steps, you finally reach the narrow Col Liet.
A flat section through dense alder thickets follows, before descending a steep gully. At the bottom, the path crosses to the right, then climbs briefly before descending diagonally to the Bonze Rifuge.
From the hut, descend to the right, then begin a traverse with some short ascents and descents, which leads to Caroussaz. Continue downhill to Montat, where you turn left onto the path that takes you back to Donnes, the starting point.
