Trail description

Follow the scenic medieval mule track that climbs through the Alleigne valley. About fifteen minutes in, on the left, you will see a monumental ash tree. Continue until the start of the Ourty plateau, where you take the right-hand path that passes above the alpine pasture. The trail becomes steeper as you ascend, crossing a stream to reach the large alluvial plain of Alpe Vercoche. Continue along this flat section, then cross the stream and climb the valley leading to the lake, which is reached after a final gentle stretch.
