Brief description
A long hike that starts from the Valle dell’Alleigne (or Legna) and climbs over the ridge into the upper part of the Vallone della Manda, with all its lakes.
Up to almost the small pass, the trail passes through a large coniferous forest, then crosses open slopes to enter the upper part of the Manda basin.
Lago Cornuto, just before the ridge, is a little gem nestled among the rocks.
It is also possible, in a few minutes, to reach Col Breuil, which overlooks the Vallone della Fricolla.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta. At the roundabout, continue on the left, still heading for Aosta.
Continue past Donnas and reach Bard; after the town, at the roundabout, turn left towards Champorcher.
Pass through Hône and enter the Val di Champorcher. Continue past Pontboset towards Champorcher.
After passing through a tunnel, at the next hairpin bend, turn left onto the road that descends to Outre l’Eve. Follow this road, cross the stream, and without entering the hamlet, park on the right where the trail begins.
From the Verrès tollbooth, turn right towards Turin, pass Arnad until the roundabout, and then turn right towards Champorcher.
Trail description
Take the beautiful mule track that climbs up the valley and continue along it (at one point, on the left, you will see the monumental ash tree) almost as far as Plan Bouc. Just before this point, take the path to the left, which descends to cross the stream.
The path now ascends through a steep coniferous forest with wide switchbacks, then veers left among alders until reaching Col Boset.
From here, follow the ridge to reach Mont Digny, and continue past it until the long traverse to the left begins, leading to the basin below Lago Chenessy.
The path continues along the small stream, passing rocky areas and small clearings, until reaching Lago Cornuto, where there is a Forest Corps bivouac on the left.
Return follows the same route.
