January - February - March - April - May - June - July - August - September - October - November - December

Brief description

The Holay pond, situated in a basin left by a glacier, is a small body of water that is home to newts; the area is a nature reserve.
The Susey castle, now reduced to ruins, is in a very secluded location.
The section above Ivery climbs a rocky valley that is somewhat exposed but offers spectacular views of the valley below.
In the first part of the descent, the path is not very visible.
Except in cases of low-altitude snowfall, the route is accessible all year round.

Start point description

From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin.
At the second roundabout, turn left towards Gressoney.
Halfway up the climb, on the right, is the large car park for the library.

Trail description

From the car park, follow the road uphill to the bridge crossing the Lys torrent. Cross the road and continue in the direction of the Roman bridge.
At the second hairpin bend, enter the archway and follow the wide mule track until reaching the regional road of the Lys valley. Cross it and head left for about ten metres, then turn right to reach the road to Ivery (on the left is the large rock smoothed by the glacier, with several women’s slides).
Cross the road and take the beautiful mule track that leads to Ivery. Once on the road, follow it through the houses of Ivery. At the second hairpin bend, leave the road and continue on the level, taking the mule track (this point can also be reached via a path without reaching the asphalt road).
The mule track ascends, cutting across the steep rock face with a slightly exposed but always wide section, then with some hairpins reaches the basin where Stagno di Holay is located.
Follow the right-hand side of the pond, then ascend along a rural road to the asphalt road. Cross it and, along a small path, reach the ruins of Susey Castle.
Descend for a few dozen metres, then turn right and continue on level ground to reach the houses of Susey. Pass through the houses and take the barely visible path, which climbs slightly, then crosses on the level to reach the mule track leading to Pra Signore.
Descend it for a few dozen metres, then take the barely visible path on the right that returns towards Ivery. Cross some characteristic rocks shaped by the glacier until reaching the road, which you follow back to Ivery. From there, retrace the ascent route to return to the car.
