Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta. At the roundabout, continue to the left, still heading for Aosta.
Pass through Donnas and reach Bard. After leaving the village, at the roundabout, turn left towards Hône.
Pass through the village of Hône and near its end, take a left turn at the square where the town hall is located. Then follow the road along the right-hand side of the river for a few hundred metres to reach the car park.
From the Verrès toll booth, turn right towards Turin, pass Arnad until the roundabout, then turn right towards Champorcher.
Trail description
From the car park, enter between the houses and then take the wide mule track on the left, which climbs to reach the regional road leading to Champorcher.
Cross the road, cut across the hairpin bend, and cross it again. Continue along the mule track until the junction with the road leading to the village of Varmy. Follow the regional road for about ten metres, then take the mule track on the left that ascends to the Chapel of Santa Lucia.
Take the right-hand mule track, which climbs steeply to the houses of Bren Dessous. Cross the road and continue to Bren Dessus, then to the houses of Barche, where the mule track begins. Follow it uphill until reaching the wider military road (this point will also be passed on the return), and follow it to the right.
The road continues at a steady gradient until reaching a small votive shrine near the main road. Follow the road for a few hundred metres, then take the mule track on the left that enters the village of Biel. Pass between the houses to find a large stone fountain carved from a single block.
Continue uphill to reach the road, then take the mule track to the left, which leads to Courtil, where you will find a beautiful stone fountain and the village chapel. (Before reaching Courtil, at the junction with a country road, continue left for about 100 metres to find the bellflower bloom area above the road.)
After crossing the village, descend along a pleasant mule track until reaching the main road. Cross it and walk a short section along the morning ascent route, then take the steeper mule track leading to the next junction (reached in the morning), turn right, and follow the wide military road to the houses of Folliasses.
Continue along the main road until reaching the road leading to Champorcher. Cross it and proceed to the village of Charvaz, pass through it, then descend to the Chapel of Santa Lucia. From this point, follow the morning route back to the car.
