Trail description

From the car park, cross the Lys stream and the regional road to take the trail that climbs between the houses (on the left, some paintings can be seen on the façade of a house).
Reach another small road, then begin the steep ascent. The mule track is wide but becomes very steep, especially in its final part.
From here you reach a small col, where the trail levels out to enter the valley, with the silhouette of the refuge visible in the center of the pass.
Continue past Alpe Ondre Cialfrezzo, then cross the stream and climb the opposite slope to reach the plateau where Alpe Òbre Cialfrezzo is located.
A series of switchbacks then leads up to the pass, just before which, on the right, stand the ruins of the old hospice.
From the pass, descend on the Valsesia side until reaching a junction to the left, where the trail traverses across to a viewpoint above a rock step.
Here begins an exposed section, followed by a steady climb high above the valley, eventually reaching the Valdobbiola Pass.
The descent now begins into the valley, passing near a small lake before crossing to the right and continuing downhill to Alpe Schenébiel, where a junction leads off to the Alpetto Pass.
Keep to the right side of the valley, passing Alpe Valdobbiola Superiore, Tené Gavene, and Valdobbiola Inferiore.
Skirt along a large protective wall, with a fine view across to the beautiful village of Alpenzu Grande, before descending a steep, switchbacking forest path. The final section continues through the woods, reaching the road that leads to Rong.
Follow the road downhill for a short distance, then take the trail leading to the valley floor near the hydroelectric plant.
Walk alongside the stream along a rural road to the center of Gressoney-Saint-Jean.
After crossing the bridge, continue along the Lys until Villa Margherita, where you cross again to visit the park.
Pass near the tennis courts to reach the houses of Valdobbia Superiore, rejoining the trail followed in the morning.
Descend from here and soon return to the car park.
