Brief description
This route follows the path of the Tor des Géants.
The first part of the trail is a beautiful paved mule track, which after a steeper section leads to the wide upper basin.
From the pass, there are expansive views of the Loo Valley descending to Gressoney-Saint-Jean.
As an alternative to retracing your steps, the route can be completed as a loop.
Just below the pass, follow the Alta Via trail to Col della Mologna, then descend along the path that leads to the two footbridges below Schtovela. From there, reconnect with the morning trail. A five-minute detour on the left allows you to see the small Lake Suckie.

Trail description
From the car park, follow the beautiful paved mule track until you reach the left-hand turn, just before the Gruba dormitory, leading to the Lazouney and Mologna Grande passes.
Climb quickly along the stone steps to reach the upper basin.
The trail then becomes less steep, continuing along the paved mule track flanked by two large stone walls until reaching Alpe Stubin.
Proceed through the larch forest to the two small footbridges, where the steep trail on the left begins.
Follow it along a rocky section among the trees to overcome a steep small valley and reach the Jatzit huts.
The path now traverses to the right to reach the upper basin.
Climb further to the Boudou huts and, after a steeper section, to the Kiwsüli huts, where you shortly encounter the Alta Via trail coming from Col Mologna.
Following the trail to the left, you will soon reach the pass.
The descent follows the same route.
For those wishing to complete a loop, consult the map of the Gruba – Gressoney-Saint-Jean stage of the Alta Via beforehand.
