Start point description

From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right toward Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left toward Gressoney.
After a few hundred meters, turn right onto the Lys Valley road, and follow it all the way to Lillianes.
Just before the narrow section of the village, take the ascending road on the right. At the first junction, continue left. Climb the steep mountainside until you reach a junction, then follow the signs for Étoile du Berger.
Pass several steep hairpins to reach another junction. Continue toward Étoile du Berger, leaving it on the right. After about 1 km, you will arrive at the small car park where you can leave your car.

Trail description

From the car park, follow the rural road, cross the bridge, and at the first hairpin turn, take the Alta Via No. 1 trail to the left.
The beautiful trail alternates between larch forests and scenic clearings, passing several small alpine pastures before a steeper section leads to a lovely grassy basin.
After a short stretch, veer left to reach Alpe Giassit, where just before you can see a charming “crotin” (small stone hut) beneath a large boulder.
Continue through the center of the valley, and without difficulty, reach the large wooden cross placed at the col.
The descent follows the same route back to the car park.
