Col del Loo
( 2.452 m)Brief description
The Lòo valley is a stunning environment, yet almost invisible from the valley floor.
After an initial steeper section, which passes above the waterfall visible from below, the path enters the long, gently sloping valley that leads up to the pass.
A short ten-minute detour is recommended to also reach Col di Lazouney, which descends towards Gaby.
It is also possible to stop for lunch at the Bléckéné agritourism restaurant in Ober Lòo.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left in the direction of Gressoney.
After a few hundred meters, take the road to the Valle del Lys on the right, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, and Issime.
After several kilometres, cross the Lys stream, pass a hairpin bend, and continue for a few more kilometres until you cross the stream again.
A short distance later, take the road on the right that leads to Lommatto.
After a very narrow section, turn right again to reach the Lommatto car park.
Trail description
From the Lommatto car park, walk through the village and then take the beautiful trail to the left.
Follow the long traverse uphill until you reach the bridge above the waterfall.
Cross the stream and continue along the charming trail through the narrow valley, passing sparse larches and rocky terrain.
The path approaches the stream before entering the flatter section of the valley.
Cross the stream to reach the Lòo huts.
Continue on a mostly level path, crossing some lovely plateaus, in some sections flanked by large stone walls, until you reach Ober Lòo with its chapel.
The trail then ascends a steeper section to reach the wide final basin.
Follow the trail across it (a short detour to the right will take you to Col Lazouney in a few minutes) and finally reach Col del Lòo, which overlooks the Valsesia.
The descent is along the same route.
