Brief description
The first part climbs the side valley over very steep slopes (notably the section where you might get splashed under Mont de Piodze) before eventually reaching the beautiful basin of Brengole d'Arby.
The village is situated in a lovely clearing near the Brenve stream.
The second part ascends through very wild terrain to reach the small Lesiney Lake. From this point, the trail is barely visible and suitable only for experienced hikers (this section is expected to be restored).
From the col, there are no paths descending into the Valchiusella.
On the return, a visit to the picturesque village of Crest Dessus is recommended.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left towards Aosta. At the roundabout, continue to the left, still in the direction of Aosta.
Proceed past Donnas and reach Bard; after passing through the town, at the roundabout, turn left towards Champorcher.
Pass through the town of Hône and enter the Champorcher Valley.
Continue to Pontboset, and at the end of the town, take the left-hand road that descends to the village.
After two hairpin bends, you will cross the stream and continue for a few hundred metres to find on the right the steep road that climbs to Crest, which you follow to its end.
From the Verrès tollbooth, turn right towards Turin, pass Arnad, and at the roundabout, turn right in the direction of Champorcher.
Trail description
From the car park, ascend towards the village for about ten metres and take the Alta Via No. 2 mule track on the left.
After a short uphill stretch, the path continues on level ground. At the first junction, take the path to the right that climbs slightly, then continue on the left branch, following the Alta Via No. 2 route.
The beautiful mule track climbs steadily up the valley, gradually moving away from the stream. Pass beneath Mont de Piodze, from where water sometimes falls (at times it is necessary to pass quickly to avoid getting wet), and enter the upper part of the valley.
The valley becomes gentler, and after crossing the stream, you reach the houses of Brengole d'Arby, which can also serve as the destination of the hike.
The path, less distinct, continues along the valley floor before climbing to the left to the Alpe di Reya de Cré, reaching a small pass via a steep section, just beyond which lies Lake Lesiney.
From here, continue to the right and, following faint traces of path pending maintenance, reach Col Valbella.
The return is along the same route.
