Brief description
Beautiful route leading to one of the mountain passes connecting to the Val d’Ayas.
The trail is very wild and rarely frequented.
In the second part, the path is not always easy to follow.
For those who prefer not to return along the same route, once at the Passo della Bettolina, it is also possible to descend via the Colle della Bettaforca and Sant’Anna.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right towards Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left towards Gressoney.
The road climbs a few hundred meters before taking the road on the right into the Lys Valley, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, Issime, Gaby, and Gressoney-Saint-Jean until you reach the main village of Gressoney-La-Trinité.
Without entering the village, turn right towards Staffal and follow the road to its end, where there are two large paid car parks.
Trail description
From the large car park, follow the Lys stream until the last buildings, where the trail begins on the left.
The route continues along the valley to reach the Sécke alpine huts.
The path climbs gently to a reservoir, then turns sharply left to overcome the steep step of the lateral valley leading to the pass.
You pass to the left of Alpe Ròs Gaveno before entering the basin.
Here the slope eases for a short stretch before ascending a small side valley on the right.
The trail continues among rocky sections until reaching a small alpine lake in the last hollow below the pass.
With a final steep climb, you arrive at the Passo della Bettolina Inferiore, where the trail from Colle della Bettaforca meets the one leading to the Quintino Sella refuge.
The descent follows the same route.
