Brief description
The Arcomy loop passes through a conifer forest in the lower section and follows a scenic ridge higher up, with a few short sections that require careful footing.
A stop is recommended at the Sant’Anna Chapel, set in a beautiful clearing within the pine forest.
The ridge trail has been renovated in recent years, and in the upper section, it offers lovely views over two little-visited valleys of Issogne.

Start point description
From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn left toward Aosta. At the roundabout, keep left, continuing toward Aosta.
Pass through Donnas and reach Bard. After the town, at the roundabout, turn left toward Champorcher.
Drive through Hône and enter the Champorcher Valley. Continue past Pontboset toward Champorcher. After passing the Mellier area, turn right onto the road leading to Petit and Grand Rosier.
At Petit Rosier, a convenient car park is located on the left.
From the Verrès tollbooth, turn right toward Torino, pass Arnad, and at the roundabout, turn right toward Champorcher.
Trail description
From the car park, return briefly along the road, then take the trail on the left just past the buildings that descends slightly.
After a short distance, follow the flat path to the left that leads to Grand Rosier. You will pass near a wetland area before ascending briefly onto the road just before the Grand Rosier square.
Cross through the village and take the left-hand trail that climbs toward Col de Plan Fenêtre. Upon reaching the pass, continue straight to the left for a few minutes to reach the white Sant’Anna chapel, beautifully set in a clearing among the pines.
Continue on the level until you find the trail to the right, which climbs steeply to Col Possauel (or Col Pofouey), then descends into the Issogne valley. From the pass, head left along the ridge (with a few secured sections) to reach a small saddle, then climb a wooded ridge to Pointe d’Arcomy (hard to spot as it is completely forested).
Descend briefly to Col d’Arcomy, from where the Brenve alpine pasture in the Issogne valley can be reached. Turn left from the pass to reach the large Arcomy alpine clearing.
From here, descend to the left (the path may be faint in some seasons) and take the descending trail toward Petit Rosier. Be careful not to take the nearby path to the right, which leads to Champorcher.
The trail descends steeply among larches, then traverses left along a large protective wall, finally reaching Petit Rosier, where the car is parked.
