Start point description

From the Pont-Saint-Martin motorway exit, turn right toward Turin. At the second roundabout, turn left toward Gressoney.
After a few hundred meters, take the road on the right leading into the Lys Valley, passing through the villages of Lillianes, Fontainemore, Issime, and Gaby.
Continue until you reach Gressoney-Saint-Jean. Cross the bridge over the Lys stream, then proceed across the large plain ahead until you find the road to Rong on the right.
Follow the switchbacks upward until you reach the trailhead, marked with signage. There are a few small pull-off areas nearby for parking.

Trail description

The trail climbs through the forest, initially passing above Rong, then re-crossing toward the valley exit. After a few very steep switchbacks, it emerges from the trees, revealing the chalets of Valdobbiola.
The path follows a long protective wall to reach the Valdobbiola chalets, continuing on the left through sparse woodland, then crossing to reach the beautiful Tené Gavene chalet and, shortly after, Valdobbiola Superiore.
The trail then heads toward the center of the valley, following a traverse to the Schenébiel chalet, where you turn left. It continues up a small side valley on the left, where the path becomes less visible, reaching the upper slopes. The trail crosses right to the final basin.
Climbing up the steep gully on the right, you reach the pass. Early in the season, snow may still be present in this last section.
The descent follows the same route.
